Cleaning Leather at Home
Leather is a long-lasting material for furniture, automobile interiors, clothing, and accessories, but it does require some upkeep to stay in good shape. Use these strategies to clean and maintain your leather on a regular basis to keep it looking great for years to come.
Before cleaning leather items, test the solution in an inconspicuous area to ensure the surface is not damaged or discoloured.
All-Purpose Leather Cleaner
Simple home materials may be used for leather cleaning. To begin, dust the surface using a soft cloth. In a basin, combine 50/50 vinegar and water and apply it to your furniture using a microfiber cloth (Image 1). (Image 2). To remove dirt from the natural fibres of the leather, rub it in a circular manner. Return your cloth to the basin on a regular basis to wring it out and reset it. As the dirt is removed from the leather and deposited in the basin, you’ll notice. Replace your cleaning solution as required if it becomes too filthy. Don’t wet the leather completely; only use a moist towel to loosen and remove the grime.

How to Get Stains Out of Leather
Dark Stains: You can make a paste with one-part lemon juice and one-part cream of tartar to remove dark stains from light-coloured leather. Apply the paste on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. Apply a second layer of paste, work it in, and then wipe away with a damp sponge or a damp sponge dipped in moisturizing soap.
Water Stains: To remove water stains on leather, youcan moisten the area with a little water, let it dry, or gently blow it dry. Then sprinkle baking soda or corn-starch on the place to eliminate oil or grease stains. Gently rub it in. The oil will be absorbed by the soda or starch. Then wipe away the powder, using a delicate cloth.
Remove ink stains from leather with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and gently wiping the stain. Using a blow dryer, dry the region. Apply a thick application of non-gel, non-oily cuticle remover if the discoloration persists after drying. Allow to dry overnight before wiping away with a moist towel.
Mix one part rubbing alcohol with one-part water to make the mould. Wipe the afflicted area with a dampened cloth soaked in the alcohol solution. Clean with a moist towel once more. Mildew will be removed as well.
Salt stains on shoes and boots are typical in snowy places throughout the winter. Mix one-part water with one-part white vinegar to remove these stains. To remove the salt, dip a towel into the solution and wipe or gently coat the shoes. To clean the entire surface, this may need to be done numerous times. They should appear virtually brand new when you’re done. Wipe leather shoes with a moist cloth on a regular basis and use a conditioner to keep them properly shined.
